Messianic Judaism?

The definitions of this expression are as numerous as there are movements, missions and other communities using the terms of Messianic, Messiah, Messianistic, Judaism etc.

In Carpatho-Ukraine there are some non Jewish Ruthenians who are “playing Jews” under this denomination. In Transylvania too, some people that have nothing to do with Jewry are naming themselves like this and they have even founded a “prophetic school” bearing this name.  
Some Hungarian philosemites do also use these terms partially with the collaboration of Jews that are not only unable to entirely indentify themselves to the Jewish People but who also do not have any notion of what the Jewish identity is about. 

What does this expression really mean? 

Judaism is the base of the Jewish religion. It is the system of rites and traditions that order the faith of the Jewish People.   
Originally this word was referring to the religion of the inhabitants of Judea.
It is a structure of laws based on the Revelation, the Holy Scriptures (Torah – Old Testament) together with the tradition. 
Among these, two elements are stable and immutable. The third one changes according to the times, the places, the cultures, the leaders, the influences of the neighboring people and their religions. Tradition is diverse and varies a lot.
It varies even so much that it many times looses its connection to the two primary elements! 

Then we must know the unity of the Brit Hadasha (New Testament) and the Tanakh (Old Testament) in order to have only one Law which is no other than the one of the Revelation on the Mount Sinai. This revealed Law does only vary in the way it is carried out and becomes "modern" only in the sense that it has to be applied according to the age we are living in.

This way, Messianic Judaism mustn’t go under the cover of Christianity nor of any legislative order of any church and even not under the rule of Rabbinical Judaism since all of them went quite away from the Revealed Law.

These legislative orders do nevertheless have laws (ethics, moral, etc) which look like or even coincide with the Word of God.
