Parasha of the week: Exodus 10:1 - 13: 17

Haftara: Jeremiah 46:13 - 28

The biblical passage of the week also includes the plagues of Egypt.
It is interesting to analyze these plagues to see what God judges through them?

1. THE WATER OF THE NILE TURNS INTO BLOOD
Nile’s god is Apis (Hapi)
Isis is its goddess
Nun is the guardian of the Nile
...and there are many others...

2. THE FROGS
Heqet the goddess with frog-head, the goddess of birth and fertilization

3. THE MOSQUITOS
Set, the god of the desert

4. THE FLIES (HORSEFLIES)
The god Outo which was represented as a fly.

5. THE MURRAIN
Hathor, the god with a cow-head and Apis the bull-god that are together the symbol of fertilization...

6. THE BOILS
Isis the goddess of cure
Sekhmet the goddess ruling over diseases
Sunu the god of plagues and epidemics

7. THE HAIL
Osiris the god of wheat and fertility
Nut, the goddess of the sky and Set, the god of the storms

8. THE LOCUSTS (GRASSHOPPERS)
… again Nut and Osiris…

9. THE DARKNESS
Again Nut, the goddess of the sky
Hathor, another goddess of the skies
Re the sun-god
Horus the other sun-god

10. THE DEAD OF THE FIRSTBORN
Min, the god of fertility
Heqet the protecting goddess of pregnant women
Isis protecting goddess of children
The firstborn of Pharaoh who was worshiped as a god

I noted that God has judged the goddess of the sky many times together with the gods of fertility…

Is the time of judgment of the Goddess of the Skies has come again? Together with the judgment of the more and more numerous globalizing gods of these days?

It is interesting to note that:

The first 3 plagues came through Aaron’s rod
The rod has not been used for the following 3 plagues, 4 to 6.
It was the rod of Moses that brought the 7th and the 8th plague.
MOSES USED HIS HANDS for the 9th one
GOD JUDGES............ 10th plague
